Round 2 - Semi-Finals

Big upset against arch rival Antioch tonight in a 2-3 loss. I must say that I am very proud of the boys and their strong finish and support of Glencliff Soccer and the school. It was a great year with some big heartaches and some big wins. Well done boys. We'll get 'em next year!

1st round - district tournament

an overwhelming 8-1 win against cane ridge last night at mcgavock stadium. a great hat trick by cephas, while martin and luis both posted two, and manuel got a great goal late in the game off the bench. the player of the match was gorge guardado for his great defense and perfect passes setting up the goals.

Big Win

Great win for Glencliff against Whites Creek High School yesterday on a cold windy day. Goals by Israel, Cephas, and a PK by Luis Ramos. I warned Jose about a big kick (2nd half) from the goalie and a big bounce that would go in. This almost happened which made us all laugh. Great game. Next match against Ensworth.

the comeback of the season

in the first two minutes of the game, a perfect cross by israel vega to cephas toninga created what seemed to be a continuation of glencliff domination. by the end of the 1st half we were down 1-2 and hanging out heads lower. the second half started to a beautiful 30 yard blast from israel to bring the score even. and then hillwood got two quick goals on us. glencliff reset and switched things around, moving proven center defender to forward stephen. and then the magic of glencliff soccer happened. 3 goals in 12 minutes to put glencliff a head 5-4 for the win. israel scored one and stephen two.

Antioch

11-1 = 10 but who's counting? Tough loss vs. a very good Antioch on Thursday afternoon at Antioch. Some say they have never seen me get so upset but I'll always stand by my players when we play hard and fair. Great job players. I was very proud of all the boys and how they played.

Man of the Match - Jose Guardardo

Mt. Juliet

Tough loss against a well coached Mt. Juliet team. We played toe to toe with them all game but just couldn't get one in the back of the net. Both referee's and coach expressed their compliments at our team and the way we played and composed ourselves under pressure. There were a few parent hooligan fans that had to be dealt with and I'm also proud of our boys for staying composed. Well done!

Man of the Match - Cephus Toninga

Players are not allowed to have “pick-up” games or “practice” on school property once official practice is over.
Practice is NOT OPTIONAL! If you do not come to practice during the week, you do not play during the game, though you should still be dressed to play and support your team. In case of an emergency, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can make arrangements. If tardies and/or absences in practice or games become a problem, you will be asked to leave the team and turn in all warm-ups and uniforms.

Games:

Parents, cousins, family members, and friends are all a good source of transportation. Inform them of the schedule in advance so they can make arrangements. Parents, friends, cousins, family members, former team members, are not allowed on the field during warm up or during the game.

Home Games: Players must arrive 1 hour before game time. Players must be dressed in Glencliff issued warm-ups (sweatshirt, sweatpants), or uniform. DO NOT show up in street clothes and change. Do this before you arrive.

Away Games: Players must arrive 1 hour before game time. Players must be dressed in Glencliff issued warm-ups, or uniform. DO NOT show up in street clothes and change.
